The spawn is in a flat grass landscape. To your right is a river which you have to cross to get to the mesa biome.
Once you've crossed the river you will already see the first couple of exposed mineshafts. In most of the exposed mineshafts you don't have to walk far in to get your first gold ores too.
Now, lets have a look at the dungeon. To get there you need to locate the big square crater in the ground. It is close to the spawn and river in the mesa biome. Then find the block marked with a white circle below and dig straight down at it.
The dungeon includes one spider spawner and two chests. In the chests you will find the following items.
